Why Apply for awards?

Why is it a good use of your time to apply for Washington State PTA and Auburn Council of PTA's Awards? There are several key benefits to be aware of:

Build pride and participation in PTA programs: Parents, teachers, and PTA members are proud to be a part of a high-quality organization that can demonstrate its adherence to guidelines, best practices, and which demonstrates innovation, creativity and focus.
Build awareness of PTA programs: Receiving public recognition of your PTA’s efforts will get the attention of parents and teachers who may not have been aware of all PTA does in their community.
Give recognition for outstanding volunteer efforts: Taking time to nominate outstanding volunteers and programs is a great way to thank volunteers who put in many hours of hard work!

Many local PTA units create and sponsor their own volunteer recognition, in addition to taking advantage of individual awards available at the local unit. Washington State PTA Individual Awards which can be given by PTAs at the local unit level include:
Golden Acorn, Honorary Life Membership, Outstanding Advocate, Outstanding Student Advocate, and Outstanding Educator

Honorary Life Membership
The purpose of the Honorary Life Membership is to recognize an individual who has contributed significantly
to a PTA at the local unit, council, or state level. This award can be given by a PTA unit, council, or region.

Leadership Academy
What ever differences we make in the lives of children are because of volunteers who are committed
to being a voice for every child. In gratitude for many hours of service and training, the WSPTA Board of Directors created the Leadership Academy Awards Program. The purpose of this program is to recognize and acknowledge leadership skills attained by PTA leaders throughout all levels of the association.
