When do we have to do all this? Council recommends the following time line: February and Early March: accept nominations. early April: choose your recipients, order pins from State mid April : names and ticket orders/fees due to Council late April: Ceremony Do we have to order the pins? If you want to award the Golden Acorn or Outstanding Educator to someone in your school, yes. You need to order the pin from WSPTA for these prestigious awards. Each pin is $70, and funds a donation to the WSPTA Scholarship Program. We recommend that you order these as soon as you can. It takes about 2-3 weeks to receive them from state. I cannot find the form to order the pins. The original hard copy was sent to your president at the beginning of the year. If you no longer have that, or need another, click the links on this page to download and print a new copy. Do we give an award to our principal? If you are giving your principal one of these official PTA awards, then by all means let's celebrate his or her work! If you would like to honor your principal at the ceremony, but not as an award recipient, you may do so. Often, a President will say a few words about the Principal. It is not necessarily an official award. You have 5-8 minutes to present whatever awards or honors you would like. It is your time! Who give the awards at the ceremony? Traditionally, the President or Executive Committee presents the awards. However, your unit may choose to do things a little differently! It is your time do present your awards as you wish. Remember that you only have about 5-8 minutes. What about the book of speeches? We no longer have this tradition of collecting the speeches and handing them out to all participants. |
